Coveted by stylish stationery fans and brides-to-be everywhere, letterpress printing has been enjoying a well-deserved renaissance of popularity in the past few years—and we're confident it will remain popular for many years to come. Its elegant look, combined with the incredibly tactile nature of the final product, makes letterpress a pleasure to look at, touch, and enjoy.
For our workshop celebrating the art of letterpress printing, Well Hello Letterpress, students were introduced to the subject by their teachers for the day, the ladies behind local letterpress company Studio Ephemera, Camden Richards & Monique Comacchio.
During class, Camden and Monique reviewed the history of letterpress and the printed word, as well as the different types of letterpress in the world.
Each student then printed their own set of "Hello" and "Thank You" cards, which gave them the opportunity to experience what it feels like to operate a real letterpress. Then students printed gift cards, labeled with "To" and From," on a tabletop press.
Of course, while learning about letterpress, students also enjoyed refreshments, small bites, and budding friendships—a staple of any workshop at Handcraft Studio School! Have you signed up for a workshop yet?
