Making your own rugs is a beautiful way to minimize textile waste, and to bring color and texture to your home. In this class you will make a circular rug using a big crochet hook and "yarn" made from scrap fabric. Knowledge of crochet is not required but is very helpful. Class will cover all the basic stitches needed as well as best techniques for cutting strips and adding new colors to your designs.
Tania will bring plenty of fabric for use in class but students are encouraged to bring their own lightweight woven or jersey fabric, including old T shirts and sheets. This is a great way to re-purpose those favorite garments that may have been outgrown, stained, or ripped.
You will go home with a completed small rug or the start of something bigger, and a new outlook on old textiles!
