Did you know hands free is the way to be?! In this beginners class, you will learn how to make your own hip bag (or fanny pack - call it whatever you want) so you too can shop with BOTH hands. Jennifer Laursen owner of Tilt Leather will lead you through the process from start to finish. You will be constructing your bag out of natural vegetable tanned leather, which patinas to a beautiful tan color over time OR black leather (please let us know what you prefer in the NOTES section at checkout). You will learn different methods of cutting leather from a pattern, learn about the different types of leather adhesives, bag and belt hardware, and how to assemble your bag using hand stitching techniques. You will also be learning how to measure, cut and punch holes for a perfect-fit belt your hip bag attaches to. You'll go away with a beautiful hand made bag and the knowledge of basic leatherworking- a win win! *

* Due to the length of this workshop we will be taking a short lunch break. Please bring a bagged lunch or there are also a few walkable options near the studio. Light snacks and drinks will also be served.

Inspired by the beautiful leatherwork from Mexico, 6 years ago I went on a quest to teach myself this time-honored tradition. I devoured old manuals, youtube videos, and used the tried and true method of trial and error. Today I make handmade accessories for women, men and home, still learning and perfecting my craft everyday - and I love every minute of it! Each piece is made solely by me in my studio in Vallejo Ca with lots of love, blood, sweat and tears (ok- not tears, but I do listen to the band a lot). I also teach private lessons and group workshops to kids and adults. I love watching others get hooked on leathercraft! See more @tiltleather
