*** Note that this workshop will be happening at our NEW studio location: 10368 San Pablo in EL CERRITO ***

In this 4 hour workshop, you’ll learn to make a net bag for a bottle of wine or few things at the grocery store. Using a shuttle and paracord you’ll learn the basic knots and process of making a net bag and will go home with a finished bag, shuttle for future use, and visual aids to help you make your next bag or project. Beginners are welcome.

Sarah Pedlow, artist and owner of ThreadWritten Textiles, attended an artist’s residency in Iceland last summer where she learned net-making from a man who has made nets since he was a boy and worked in the fishing industry for over 25 years.  Sarah is interested in cultural preservation, ethnic embroidery, traditional craft, and creating a global community of makers connected via cultural heritage skills. She holds an MFA from Rutgers University.  She also teaches Hungarian Folk Embroidery several times a year at HCSS.  Find her online at threadwritten.com.
