Learn to make paper moth orchids (Phalaenopsis) with Tiffanie Turner. The moth orchid is the new darling of modern floristry, and Tiffanie will guide you through her special tricks to make a handful of these seemingly simple blooms. A selection of muted, single-tone (non-patterned) papers will be used for the session.

The focus will extend from the specific textures and shapes of the moth orchid to the particular way these blooms grow on their stems. Leaves will be demonstrated, and you will go home with materials to make leaves and more orchids on your own time. *

Please bring your favorite scissors if you have a pair, otherwise scissors will be provided in class.

This is a long class, so please bring your lunch for a quick lunch break around 12:30. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

Special note: Tiffanie would like to remind any attendees of her October 23-25 Makerie retreat in Boulder that this flower is part of that curriculum. It will also possibly be taught at the October 19-21 Makerie retreat.

* If you are interested in joining us for both workshops - Orchids AND Leaves - please choose the both option at checkout and you will receive a $10 discount.

Tiffanie Turner is an artist who explores nature and botany in large and small scales in paper. She is a wife, mother of two young children, and a licensed California architect. Her work in paper stems from her background as an architect, particularly her interest in construction and repetitive motifs, along with her lifelong passion for flowers and botanical drawings. Her work can be seen around the Bay Area when she is exhibiting, online at and @tiffanieturner. For the month of May 2016 Tiffanie was the artist in residence at the de Young Museum. Tiffanie released her first book on paper flowers, titled "The Fine Art of Paper Flowers," in August of 2017 by Ten Speed Press.
