Make your garment beautiful inside and out and learn couture-style seam finishes! You will also learn how to make a simple pattern using dot paper for a curved seam and a cornered seam. Time permitting, you will learn Corded Piping, Rouleau and a basic Seminole Patchwork technique. Intermediate to advanced level sewists, basic machine skills required.

Seams covered in workshop include: 

FRENCH SEAM / TOPSTITCHING / EDGESTITCHING / WELT SEAM / FLAT FELLED SEAM / BIAS BOUND SEAM / HONG KONG SEAM / CURVED SEAMS / CORNERED SEAM / FLAT PIPING / CORDED PIPING / ROULEAU/ SEMINOLE PATCHWORK

Materials provided: instructions for each technique, all fabrics, cording, dot paper, paper scissors, pencils and sewing machines.

Materials to bring: fabric scissors, straight pins, and thread for the machine.

Optional: Sewing machine if you have one that you would like to work on. 

Actively teaching since 1988, Barbara Beccio is also an award-winning doll designer who brings her inventive and inquisitive spirit to her sewing classes, workshops in costuming, doll and mask-making, and sculpture. She brings her knowledge of clothing construction and textiles as well as many costuming techniques, to the classes that she teaches. Currently, she teaches adult as well as children’s sewing classes at Stonemountain and Daughter Fabrics in Berkeley California. Having taught classes from pre-school to college as well as adult classes, she is able to bring versatility and creativity to a wide range of educational situations. Read more about Barbara HERE
