Learn how to coil a small, fragrant basket using pine needles, raffia and a tapestry needle. You will learn several different stitches, as well as how to gather and prepare materials. You have the option of completing a small basket in class or working on a larger basket to complete on your own.

Please bring a pair of small scissors.

I am an El Cerrito basket maker and teacher. I love exploring the concept of basketry and working with both natural and non-traditional materials; there are limitless possibilities. My work is included in “500 Baskets” by Lark Press. I have taught pine needle basketry to Maya artisan women through their fair trade cooperatives in the highlands of Guatemala.
