This workshop will teach several basic embroidery stitches used in traditional festive clothing from Northern Portugal dating back to the 1700s. Fun for new and advanced embroiderers alike, we'll study the traditional costumes of Viana do Castelo and practice stitching a traditional floral pattern inspired by the designs on women's blouses. Please bring a shirt or other piece of clothing to embroider if you like. Learn about the traditions of this lesser-known region of Portugal and support the disappearing practice of embroidery. Sarah is back for a quick holiday visit and will teach on 1/4 before returning home to Amsterdam. *

* If you are interested in joining both the morning Hungarian workshop and the afternoon Embroidered Flowers of Portugal workshop please choose the both classes option at checkout and you will receive a $20 discount.
